St. Francis Healthcare System presents Bishop Silva with Check for $75,000

December 28, 2015

Jerry Correa, President & CEO of St. Francis, left, and Sister Davilyn Ah Chick, OSF, Chair of the St. Francis Healthcare System board of directors, right, presented Bishop Clarence “Larry” Silva with a check for $75,000 at the annual St. Francis Healthcare Foundation Christmas party.

St. Francis Healthcare System held a fundraiser to support Bishop Clarence “Larry” Silva of the Diocese of Honolulu in early November to celebrate his 10th anniversary as the Bishop of the Diocese of Honolulu.

The proceeds from the event will be used for ongoing renovations for the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace, located on the mauka end of Fort Street Mall in downtown Honolulu.

The fundraising campaign began in 2010 to restore the Mother Church of the Diocese of Honolulu and what is believed to be the oldest cathedral in continuous use in the United States. The church was founded in 1843 and placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

The relics of Saint Marianne Cope were enshrined at the Cathedral Basilica in July 31, 2014, and Saint Damien of Molokai was ordained in the church on May 21, 1864.
